Construction Report: February, 2002
By Kevin Wakelin, Project Manager

WET! WET! WET! That’s pretty much sums up this winter – one of the wettest on record since documentation began! That said, we’ve probably re-sequenced the construction ten times over during the last 8 weeks alone due to not only rain but also utility installation delays and let downs! The wet weather not only delays the obvious exterior works, such as framing, roofing, concrete pouring, and trenching, but also interior plaster drying times, ceramic tile mortar cure times and even the installation of carpeting!

We’ve been pulling out all the stops this month to have Buildings 3 and 4 ready for the Building Inspection Department’s approval of their Occupancy Certificates, which we successfully received on January 25th. The final touches to the Buildings are also nearly complete, and are expected to be all said and done by mid-February.

The remaining Buildings, numbers 6, 5, 2 and 1, are all still undergoing various stages of construction, with all but #1 out of the ground. Hopefully the remaining winter months will be kinder to us so that we can maintain the construction schedules. Site improvements are also moving forward, with sidewalks, landscaping and fencing installations keeping pace with the buildings.

What's to Come in February:

Complete Building VI by the end of the month
Pour foundations for Building I
Start framing Building I
Start MEP rough-ins for Building I
Complete framing Buildings II and V
Complete MEP rough-ins for Buildings II, V, and VI
Complete sheet rocking to Buildings II and V
Remove temporary telephone poles

That’s it for this month’s update. As always, don’t forget to check the Construction Report next month for additional updates on our progress, and if you haven’t registered already, please take a minute to register with us at www.ironhorselofts.com/registration.asp.  We will keep you abreast of the latest and greatest at Iron Horse Lofts!

Kevin Wakelin
