Construction Report: May, 2001
By Kacey Callinan, Assistant Project Manager
I am pleased to report that our framing has begun on the
first of the eight buildings at Iron Horse Lofts! This
structure will house the new Sales Office and Models and
will be the first building to be finished. We’ll soon be
steaming through the rest of the buildings - and for those
of you that have peered over the Las Juntas Way gates, you’ll
know that we’re already up to the second floor of the
Sales Office and Models!
This is a very exciting time in construction terms.
Framing can make or break a construction schedule, so it’s
important that the framing crews are quick out of the blocks
and gain a strong momentum through the site. It’s also the
first time that we actually start to see your lofts taking
shape. It’s the time when all the architectural blueprints
come to life!
Running ahead of the framing are the foundation crews who
now have their second building pad poured (Building VII),
and more than half the foundation layouts are now complete.
The only underground service yet to start is what we call
the “joint trench” - it’s what PG&E dig to lay all
your electrical, gas, cable and telephone cables. The storm
drains, sanitary sewer and water lines are all installed, so
the majority of work from this point forward will be above
ground and visible for us all to see - even from the street!
With all the excitement I’m hearing in the community
about our Iron Horse Lofts, I know you’re all bursting to
come and view the models, so rest assured that I’m keeping
your Construction Superintendent on his toes to make sure we
meet our marketing team’s summer Grand Opening plans!
Iron Horse Lofts is underway!
